With a vast majority of the population now using mobile devices and tablets to browse the web and search it’s important that we understand how to reach these people.
Mobile web browsing is not going to go away. If you perform a search on your mobile phone you’ll probably not have even noticed this but you are completely saturated with Google Adwords PPC ads on most devices.
A smaller search interface, which allows ads to dominate a larger portion of the screen real estate means that those advertising on Google Adwords are getting more clicks than those in position 1 on Google for the same keyword.
Don’t believe us? Goto Google on your phone now and search for anything like a plumber or website hosting for example. On the majority of Android phone devices you will get 2 Google Adwords adverts and then 1 organic search result. on iPhones and other phones it’s a similar story.
Vertical iPhone = usually just 1 organic listing with the paid listings.
Horizontal iPhone = all paid listings are visible and no organic listings.
Vertical iPad = about 2/3rds of the screen is adverts.
Horizontal iPad has about half of a single organic listing above the fold.
With this in mind it’s now more important than ever to make sure you include Google Adwords in your monthly marketing budget. As the usage on mobiles grows for browsing the web those in the top spots will be reaping the rewards.
